Annie Shafran is currently a Senior at West Morris Mendham High School. She is involved with Relay for Life and is a Peer Leader. This will be Annie’s third year in journalism. During her Sophomore year, Annie joined journalism and began her writing career as a staff writer. Halfway through, though, she became the editor for the Arts and Entertainment section. starting her Junior year, Annie became the head Editor for The Patriot. Entering her third and final year with the paper, she is very excited to make the year memorable. Outside of school, Annie enjoys art. Ever since she was young Annie had always had a love for creating art. While she does enjoy drawing, her main love falls to painting. Oils and acrylics are two of her favorite mediums to work with. Annie also loves playing music. She started playing the drums when she was eight. In the past year, she also picked up the guitar, a little bass, and even the didgeridoo! She loves anything creative: music, painting, writing. She even wants to pursue art in the future. Frequently, Annie’s hair color changes. While it is naturally brown, in the past two years it has been various shades of green, blue, purple, turquoise, pink, and red. Annie also enjoys going on hikes and ski trips with her family and two dogs. Annie originally took journalism because she needed something to fill up her schedule. However, she quickly fell in love with all of it. While Annie is excited to graduate from Mendham and go out in the world, she will miss working on The Patriot.
