With October moving fast, Halloween is quickly approaching. Finally, it is beginning to feel like fall, but with only a little more than three weeks until Halloween, it can be hard to get into the spooky spirit. Below are three movies that can help anyone get ready for Halloween.

This musical, comedy, horror trifecta is one like no other. Featuring music from Meat Loaf, this cult classic, starring Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon has become a fan favorite across the country. The story begins with sweethearts Brad and Janet getting a flat tire during a storm. They then discover an eerie mansion belonging to scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played by Tim Curry. Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild and crazy characters. Through many elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his most recent creation: “Rocky.” Most famous for its colorful characters and midnight runs, this movie has been a staple Halloween movie for years. but, it did not originally start off as a Halloween movie, through passionate fans, and years of rerunning on television, there isn’t a single Halloween movie list without this one.

Marnie, played by Kimberly J. Brown, and her children are met with a big shock when they go to their Grandmother’s house, played by Debbie Reynolds, in Halloweentown. Unknown, the group then finds out that they actually come from a family of witches. The Grandmother’s town is the only place where supernatural beings alike can all live a “normal” life. However, trouble is coming and Marnie finds out that she and her family are invested in a fight for the greater good. This Disney classic can be somewhat cheesy at times, but that is what makes it better. It has the same fun spirit as most Disney movies, but with a magical, mystical spin. Bringing in a nostalgic feel, this film was actually depicted from the idea in another classic Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, (1993).

Don’t say his name three times… Beetlejuice is a lonely demon just looking for some company. After couple Barbara, played by Geena Davis, and Adam Maitland, portrayed by Alec Baldwin die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their old home one the country-side. They are unable to leave their home, not that they want to. Just as they begin to settle into their new life, the Deetzes, played by Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones, buy their house and move in, alongside their teen daughter Lydia, played by Winona Ryder. The Maitlands try to scare them away and unsuccessful, contact Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton,  whose “help” quickly becomes a danger for the Maitlands and the Deetzes. Don’t be turned off by its unique style and humor because it really is, one of the best movies, especially for Halloween.
