This year’s Unified Soccer season was a standout, shown by determination, teamwork, and the close bonds formed between players from the very beginning. Coach Bauberger explained that what stood out most was the team’s steady growth. “This year’s Unified Soccer season was great…the team worked very hard to come together and play competitively throughout the season. […] I was especially proud of the team’s growth from the start to the end of the season.”
Coach Bauberger emphasized the importance of Unified sports, stating, “There is something so special about watching peers…working together to create a safe but competitive playing field.” Small moments–like teammates helping one another out or celebrating a good game are what make each season memorable. Unified sports, she added, has a unique energy built around camaraderie and inclusivity. “It’s the absolute best.”
With many seniors graduating this year, the team will be looking to recruit new members next season. Coach Bauberger hopes to keep the spirit alive, and as more students discover Unified Sports, the program will continue to grow – not just with soccer but also in Unified basketball and flag football. “When more people buy into the idea of peers helping one another succeed, that energy spreads…and helps create a kinder, more exclusive school community,” she explained.
Senior Alexa Epitropakis shared that she enjoyed Unified Soccer because she has always loved the sport and wanted to help out while spending time with friends. Her favorite part of the season was simply being together–playing, bonding and making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. Her advice for future players: “Have fun and enjoy every moment.”
