The New Jersey Academy of Music, or NJAOM, located in Bernardsville, New Jersey, is a school for musicians to thrive with internationally renowned faculty and “world-class instruction and performance.” They offer group classes for young students to learn about different instruments, private lessons to explore their instrument by gaining access to renowned faculty, and advanced studies for advanced students to be a part of chamber music, advanced music theory, performance classes, master classes, solo and chamber performance opportunities.
Every other year, a group of NJAOM’s advanced students are invited to an opportunity to go on tour to perform spectacular programs for audiences internationally while delving into new cultural experiences. This year, the Ovation Chamber Soloists and Select Solo Instrumentalists will be performing a series of concerts in San Juan and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Artists from ages 8-15 will be performing in prominent concert halls, and a benefit concert for World Central Kitchen, while also volunteering with a local project to help the community.
In order to fund the cost of the trip, the academy will be hosting a benefit concert at the Bernardsville High School Performing Arts Center in Bernardsville on Saturday, May 18, at 7 PM. This is an excellent opportunity to raise funds to offset tour expenses and also an important concert for each of the young musicians to play in front of a public audience. The concert tour program includes works by Mozart, Sarasate, Bach, Elgar, Turina, and more. The pre-professional group of talented musicians has worked incredibly hard and has culminated in diligent years of practice and collaboration in order to create an immersive musical experience for their audience.
