Profiles in Gratitude – Tyler Barragan and Coach Nagy

Profiles in Gratitude - Tyler Barragan and Coach Nagy

Senior Tyler Barragan would like to thank his MHS football coach, Coach Nagy. Barragan has been playing football “all four years” at Mendham and wants to thank Coach Nagy specifically for making this experience unforgettable. The bond that builds between coaches and players is a special one and is seen clearly between Barragan and his coach.

Though the football team isn’t the most successful team at Mendham, the team still attracts the most fans and biggest school spirit. With lights installed this year and Mendham’s first-ever Friday night football game, the excitement for the team has flourished. Barragan wanted to thank Nagy “for being the [best] coach [he’s] played for” and teaching the boys a lot on and off the practice field.

Part of being a great coach is having a connection with your players off the field as well as on. Nagy is a known friendly face for the boys and can even be seen messing around with his players as if he is one of them. It seems to be a common theme amongst seniors that they are upset they’ll never play for Coach Nagy again but are excited and optimistic about what is to come in his coaching career as well as their own after high school.

Barragan appreciated this friendliness that Coach Nagy showed him and brought to the team. Nagy is always looking for a way to bring the boys joy after a loss or win and is a coach who never seems to give up on his players, even in the worst of times.

On behalf of Tyler Barragan, the MHS Patriot thanks Coach Nagy for supporting Mendham football players through their high school journey. These players are thankful for the wonderful coaching experience Coach Nagy brought to the football field. We hope that all the Mendham football seniors miss seeing Coach Nagy every day and are excited to see where he takes things in his coaching years to come.

As the school year comes to a close, it is becoming time to say goodbye to the Class of 2019. The Patriot is asking seniors to thank their favorite coaches for making their high school career more enjoyable. If you’re a senior looking to thank one of your coaches, email [email protected]
