The Mendham Boys Golf program followed an exceptionally successful 2024 season with an even more impressive resume this spring! The experienced Mendham group cruised through their exhibition schedule, as they didn’t suffer a loss through 10 individual school versus school matches with in-conference competition such as Parsippany Hills, Randolph, Montville, Morristown, and more. As the team progressed through the season, they held their own in the extremely challenging Blue Devil Invitational and came up slightly short of winning the Morris County Tournament. These performances only benefited the team, as later in the season the boys won their second consecutive Sectional Championship, and brought Mendham its first ever Group 2 Boys Golf Championship!
The Mendham Golf team is headlined by Lafayette Golf commit, Liam Brandt, and future Nittany Lion, Anders Farley. These two seniors are both exceptional golfers, but it has been their leadership and competitive edge that have led their team to make Mendham history in 2025. This being said, winning matches takes an entire team effort, in which fellow seniors Seth Harris and Michael Pschar were consistent contributors to the constant success of Mendham Golf.
When asked about the keys to having a successful and fulfilling spring season, Brandt remarked, “The preparation we put in the offseason [is important].” Farley similarly expressed that the team’s work ethic led to their success by saying, “We were all getting lessons every week, and if we weren’t doing that, then we were all playing together outside or in a simulator.” Both Brandt and Farley put extensive time and effort into improving their golf game, however, it was the commitment of the entire team to improve together that made this group historic. The countless hours the golfers spent practicing and refining their games together led to genuine friendships being made that extended beyond just Golf.
Mrs. Brown, Acting Assistant Principal and Mendham Head Boys Golf Coach, speaks to the friendships her team has outside of golf as a primary reason for their success, as she says, “They all really like each other outside of golf, not just as teammates, but as people. They’re always together and always working to improve not just their game, but each other’s game.” The close-knit friendships of the 2025 Mendham Golf team stem from the four major seniors, Liam Brandt, Anders Farley, Seth Harris, and Michael Pschar. The experience of Brandt, Farley, and Pschar as four-year varsity golfers equipped them with the understanding that four golfers can’t win matches; it takes a program to be great. Liam says the seniors focused on “[bringing] a few of the younger guys under our wing, and they have played great. Kamran [Basar], Colin [O’Connor], and Murk [Oechies] have all contributed to our success!” The leadership of the four experienced seniors was a main catalyst of their amazing success this spring, and Mrs. Brown feels grateful that the underclassmen “have seen the work ethic that the seniors have, and know that that’s really what it takes to be successful.”
Both Brandt and Farley reflect on their Mendham Golf careers, expressing that their most memorable moments came after winning Group 2 in 2025. Brandt says confidently that “the best memory built this year is no doubt winning groups at TOC [The Tournament of Champions]”, while Farley reflects saying, “Once we all saw each other, [after winning], we all gave each other big hugs and it was the best feeling and memory I have had from this season.” These two sensational golfers left it all on the course at the TOC and will be graduating from Mendham High School with Group 2 Champion rings, something no one has ever earned in Boys Golf. While the Boys Golf program and Mendham athletic department wish there could be another year of this dynamic senior class of golfers, the mark they’ve left on their program will forever be considered a premier all-time Mendham Sports accomplishment.
