Every new year in sports brings in new young talent from all corners of the world. Some of these players remind us of great players that played before them, very few of them turn into these great players.

European football is the most popular sport in the world. In 2018, the world cup final had an average of 517 million viewers, compared to the last NFL Superbowl, which averaged a total of 99.9 million viewers. The Champions League final, a tournament composed of various professional leagues in Europe, had about 2.5 million viewers. Every season, every fan’s eyes are on their team and the players providing for it.

With enough practice and work, these young talents could develop their potential to become great players. In soccer, four necessary skills are needed to succeed in the game: good sprint, right skill moves, precision passing, and good shot IQ.

In the German professional league, Jadon Sancho, Right Winger, from Borussia Dortmund was all over the media with his great showcase of precision passing, blistering speed, complicated skill moves, and great shooting. A teammate of his, Erling Haaland, a striker, showed his fantastic talent for scoring last season. He started 11 times and scored 13. This year Erling has carried that great habit of scoring as he has scored ten goals in 8 starts.

This year in Germany, the Americans steal the show. Since Borussia Dortmund’s youth development is so good, they have once again produced a young player with fantastic potential. Giovanni Reyna, a central attacking midfielder of Borussia Dortmund. Reyna not only features excellent passing that every midfielder needs, but he also features knowledge of the game that is only seen through some of the best players today.

Reyna’s awareness of the field is extremely impressive, considering his lack of experience at a professional level. What’s even more impressive than that is his ability to be dangerous from anywhere, his excellent skills can break the defense and create open space for himself to push an attack, and his ability to pass a ball anywhere to generate a run for another teammate is unmatched.

In English Professional League, Manchester was the place to be last year for young talent. Both teams in Manchester, United, and City, featured good young players and their unique potential to become better.

Last year, Phil Foden, a central attacking midfielder for Manchester City, showed his potential on the field more than ever. He shadows his teammate, Kevin Debruyne, a world-class midfielder on the first team. It is easy to see that Foden absorbs some aspects of Debruyne’s game.

He spreads the field’s play, staying composed in the middle of the area, waiting for the attacker’s runs to send him through the defense for an easy score.

This year around City’s new signing, Ferran Torres has been in great form for City ever since he arrived at the start of the season. In City’s last champions league match, Ferran Torres bagged a goal in the 22′ minute. He has been providing all year, splitting the defense, taking high IQ shots, and he is most dangerous when he gets close to the box.

The young striker, Mason Greenwood, for Manchester United, has been a top talent since last year. In the waning games of last year, Mason Greenwood showed off his talent for striking the ball when he scored in multiple premier league games. This year he is still their best young talent next to his teammate Scott McTominay.

Even though Greenwood hasn’t been as active scoring this season as he was last season, he is still 19 years old, one of the best young players in the world, and has the world at his feet.

Many other young players are showing the same amount of skill as Ferran Torres and Gio Reyna. The real test is whether these players can become some of the best players in the future.
