Fine Line:  the musical masterpiece that has never left the Billboard charts since its release on December 13, 2019 .  Harry Styles has had an incredibly successful year.  He has released music videos for “Golden”, “Watermelon Sugar”, “Adore You”, and “Falling” and was nominated for three Grammy awards.  Another essential piece that came with this album was the beautiful vintage silhouette, styled by Harry Lambert.  Lambert emphasized consistently going against the grain by “always [trying to] do something that isn’t too traditional when it comes to tailoring.”  “If people don’t necessarily get it straight away, we like that.  It’s kind of good.”   He also mentions that while trying new things, Harry always has accessories that “become a part of him”, such as his rings.  Without further ado, here are the best outfits from the Fine Line era.

FINE LINE

Of course the unforgettable album cover outfit must be first to set the tone.  Harry is pictured wearing a Gucci top paired with matching pink suspenders and stand-out high waisted button up trousers.  In Lambert’s Who What Wear interview, he explained that “[him] and Harry were together [and] put together a mood board for the album in terms of fashion.”  They worked closely with Gucci by “[sending] them over a mood board and the references and made almost like a checklist of things [they] would like to achieve.” (Lambert)

THE BRIT AWARDS:  A VISION IN LACE

February 2020 was Styles’ “first BRIT Awards as a solo artist” which also included “some major costume changes”, according to Vogue’s behind the scenes look (Pike).  Styles had a trio of cohesive looks planned, the most notable being the performance outfit.  He wore “all white lace [with] white lace gloves” and Lambert knew “[it was] going to be special” (Lambert).

“STAY AWAY FROM TOXIC PEOPLE”

On the Ellen Show, Harry Styles wore a green Marc Jacobs sweater embroidered with the phrase “Stay away from toxic people”.  The look was supposed to be “really fun” and “from an artist that [he] really [loves].”  (Lambert)

JW ANDERSON CARDIGAN

This is probably one of the most popular Harry Styles looks fans recreate because JW Anderson released the pattern due to how sought after it is.  Styles “wore a JW Anderson bright colored patchwork cardigan during the rehearsal for an appearance on The Today Show”(Stylist UK).  Rather than pictures of the actual performance getting spread around, the rehearsal photos did.  This led to thousands of people learning to crochet and sporting the same look as Harry all topped off with his signature pearls.  The emblematic sweater will be included “in the V&A as part of an exhibition” (Lambert).

“WATERMELON SUGAR”

Lambert worked closely with Molly Hawkins, Styles’ creative director to figure out what the theme of the music video for the hit single would be.  They decided “it was just a little bit like an acid trip.”  They wanted to focus on “color and saturation.”  The video was all about vintage, fun, and beach.  The brand Bode made the pieces and helped add soul to the music video.  One of the most notable outfits was the one with the red heart glasses.  (Lambert)

“GOLDEN”

This music video transported viewers to a whole other world than “Watermelon Sugar”.  Shown running through the streets of Italy, Harry wore muted tones of creams, yellows. and blues to match the aura of sea and sun.  The jewelry and accessories were used to top everything off and create a memory imprinted into people’s minds.  Having affordable and accessible items such as the “Golden” necklace or the yellow bucket hat make people “feel like a part of Harry”.
