The girl’s soccer team faced Central on Monday, October 5. Mendham girl’s soccer team had been practicing nonstop for this big game against Central. The game started off a little rocky for Mendham; they weren’t really connecting many passes and weren’t in the game just yet. It was taking Mendham a little while to really get into the game and start connecting passes and getting shots on goal. This game was a very big game and had a lot of ups and downs throughout the game.

Central got the first goal which made Mendham have to really compete to win. Once they got the first goal it caused Mendham to have to work hard if they wanted to win. By the end of the first half Central was winning by one goal. Halftime was very beneficial for Mendham because they were able to regroup and communicate about how they were going to win this game. Many players communicated about their “formation” and how they could “communicate better” in order to win. Mendham was going to have to make a comeback to win the game. Once the second half started Mendham had to make sure Central didn’t have the chance to score. The people that were on the bench had been cheering Mendham on by screaming “Let’s go Mendham” and made sure that they were motivating the team. Mendham was able to get two goals in the second half by being resilient. Getting two goals in the second half was crucial to winning the game. Just because Central got the first goal Mendham didn’t allow that to dictate the outcome of the game. The game ended in a two to one victory for Mendham. The girl’s soccer team found a way to win even though they had a rough start to the game.
