Sorry to destroy your hope patriots fans, but Gronkowski said no, he will not come back to the NFL. Gronkowski appeared on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show when a caller asked him if he would come out of retirement Gronkowski replied with, “I’ll give an answer. Obviously, when I retired I retired for a reason because I needed to step away. So it would be a no, he said. “There it is. But I never say no because I said no and everyone was like ‘yeah, he’s kidding.’ It’s a no. In my mind, that’s how it is. It’s a no”(Sports Illustrated). 

Despite more sources saying, ‘no Gronkowski will not return’ such as CBS and PatriotsWire, there is still hope the Rob Gronkowski could return to the NFL. According to NESN, Gronkowski is still on the reserve/retired list, also the owner of the patriots, Robert Kraft confirmed that Rob Gronkowski still hasn’t turned in his retirement papers officially. The only way for Gronkowski to return is to return by December 3 to still participate in the regular season and the playoffs. Many fans are also sure that Gronkowski will return this season. Also, a source published on September 10th by NBC Sports Boston says that Rob Gronkowski will return to the NFL. Rob Gronkowski’s saying goodbye to the NFL hasn’t convinced us yet, and neither has the fans and the sources said he will come back. Only time will tell for Rob Gronkowski.
