Girls Field Hockey: The Upset Falls Short

Girls Field Hockey: The Upset Falls Short

Tyler Goodwin, Staff Writer

Yesterday, October 7, Mendham girls field hockey team took a tough loss to Morristown-Beard 4-2 in the quarter finals of the Morris County tournament . Prior to the game the 5-5 minutment knew this was going to be a very tough game as Morristown-beard had a very impressive 9-1 record. After coming off a 2-1 victory against Whippany Park the girls of Mendham had some momentum on their side. The Minutemen couldn’t generate any offense in the first half as they trailed 1-0. However, that all changed in the second half when Grace Chapis found the back of the goal twice. Unfortunately her two goals were not enough to hold off Morristown-Beard as they scored three more goals in the second half. Putting shots on goal was very tough for Mendham as they were outshot 8-4. Mendham hopes to bounce back as they face off against Hacketstown this Thursday. Come out and support the girls field hockey team this Thursday the 10th .
