Mendham Baseball: Road to the Championship

Mendham Baseball: Road to the Championship

Cardie Saunders, Staff Writer

The Mendham Baseball team of 2019 is on its way to a much improved season with a 9-4 record for the season at the moment. With Baseball’s 2018 season ending with a record of only 8-11-1, players are getting high hopes for a championship run as Vinny Czarecki, a junior and Varsity 3rd baseman for the baseball team,  even states, “The team is insane and are 100% deserving of a state championship”. In addition to a much improved record, Coach Weingart and the baseball team came out with a few blowouts proving their dominance including games against Morris Knolls, Sparta, and Morris Tech.

What put this team over the edge was great play by the sophomores who have stepped on to make an impact on Varsity. These players include Brian Anderson, starting right fielder, Colby Craig, relief pitcher, Matt Mcfadden, outfielder, and Caleb Cook, what they like to call the utility player who “does it all”.

For the seniors, thank you for all you have done for Mendham Baseball. These great players include Mike Cilio, starting shortstop, Logan Shortall, ace pitcher, Harry Zenna, first basemen, Tommy Keating, center fielder, Drake Lam, middle infielder, Cal Stagg, outfielder, Vincent Esposito, outfielder. Congrats to Mike Cilio on his commitment to UMBC baseball and good luck. Come support these seniors and the Varsity baseball team on their road to state champions.
