On the evening of December 5, 2025, West Morris’ Relay For Life held its annual Coffeehouse at Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham Borough. The fun that came with karaoke, decorating cookies, and more was all rooted in the unanimous desire to fight cancer.
Coffeehouse was a night filled with music, food, karaoke, and luminaria, all to help fight cancer and support those battling it. Organized by the event leadership team, funds were raised through luminaria and food sales, as well as during registration. Upon entry to the event, attendees could register to spin a prize wheel to get the chance to win prizes ranging from Relay-themed phone cords and lanyards to pens, reusable Starbucks cups, ornaments, and more. In addition, guests were able to guess the number of peppermints inside a jar to win a festive, insulated Starbucks cup. Coffeehouse has been a part of West Morris’ Relay for many years as a way to raise money for the club. Attendees specifically noted how they enjoyed participating in these two activities, in addition to singing songs together, dancing, and doing crafts. The event was organized by the event leadership team to fundraise for Relay. Relay for Life is a program that is part of and raises money for the American Cancer Society, who funds cancer research, 24/7 hotlines for cancer patients, patient transport to treatment, patient treatment, and more.
The West Morris Relay Event Leadership Team is composed of students from both Mendham and Central High Schools. Students on the team all have various reasons for Relaying. When asked, some described that they Relay for their grandparents, some for friends, and some for people with other relationships to individuals who have experienced cancer. Coffeehouse is one of the main Relay for Life annual fundraisers; however, the primary event, the Relay, is taking place on June 6, 2026 on the West Morris Central High School football field.
