The Hype House is a teenage “creator” house that was created by “Thomas Petrou, Daisy Keech, Alex Warren, and Chase Hudson in December 2019” according to Insider.  The top creators are “Charli D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, and the Lopez Brothers” according to the New York Times. The show will feature Nikita Dragun, Larri Merritt, Kouvr Annon, Sienna Mae Gomez, Jack Wright, and some of the House creators. The release date is unknown but it has already faced a lot of backlash and many Netflix members have threatened to cancel their subscriptions if the show airs. It will reportedly “show a side of themselves (and their relationships) that we rarely see” according to PopBuzz. According to BGR, “…members of the Hype House famously didn’t take COVID seriously and continued to party and film content even as the number of coronavirus cases across the country was surging”. The members have all faced a lot of controversy according to PopBuzz, “Nikita’s problematic past comments, accusations of blackfishing…Tony Lopez and his brother Ondreaz Lopez have been accused of sexual assault.” Although Nikita Dragun is not an “official member of the Hype House…she is friends with several members and often hangs out at their Los Angeles residence” according to PopBuzz. She has responded to the negative feedback by saying “I know people, obviously, aren’t happy that I’m in it…I could honestly care less…I think it shows a different side to my life…People are going to be like, ‘Oh yeah what’re they gonna do? Sit there and renegade and TikTok and dance or whatever?’…that couldn’t be further from what is actually happening on the show…”
