Yesterday the 2021 Big East Tournament kicked off with 3 action packed games.  The first game of the day was (9)Marquette vs (8)Georgetown.  This game was dominated from start to finish by Georgetown.  Jahvon Blair had 20 points in 29 minutes played.  Qudus Wahab scored 19 points and added 7 rebounds.  The Hoyas won 68-49 and they will play the one seed Villinova today at noon looking to pull off the upset.

 

The next game of the day was (10)Butler (7)Xavier.  This was the game of the day in the Big East.  Xavier needed a win to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive.  Xavier was up by 14 going into halftime but Butler was able to come back in the second half and win the game in overtime 70-69.  Freshman Guard Chuck Harris was the difference maker for the Bulldogs as he scored 21 points.  Bryce Golden was close to unstoppable in the second half, he scored 20 in the game.  Butler plays Criegten at 6 tomorrow looking to pull off the upset.

 

The final game of the day was (11)DePaul vs (6)Providence.  DePaul was in control of this game from the start.  At the beginning of the second half Providence went on a nice run to tie the game with about 7 minutes left.  DePaul then regained control from there and won the game 70-62.  Senior guard Charlie Moore scored 21 points and made big play after big play down the stretch of the game. DePaul will play red hot Uconn tomorrow at 9 looking to pull off the upset.
