Sabre into the New Season? Or Will Their Hopes be Foiled?

The Mendham fencing team is about to start another anticipated season on Wednesday. Coach Medeiros is more than excited about the opener and hopes for the best. In their first match of the season, they go up against none other than Millburn.

Even though they are at a higher level than Mendham, hopefully, they can pull out a win against the team, even if it might be a challenge.

The girls’ captains are Nikita Kalathur, Danielle Long, and Gabby Barlock; the boys’ captains are Sam Shrem, Aiden McClellan, and Patrick Martin.

With these six captains running the show, it looks like it is going to be a great year for West Morris Mendham High School fencing. In fact, Evan Bravstein, a sophomore and a member of varsity hope “to be ranked top ten in the state.”

Hopefully, they can live up to these high expectations, but with great coaches and talented captains, they should succeed.

This past Saturday, the team had an incredible run in counties: Sam Shrem won 1st in Boy’s Eppe, Sezin Sakmar won 1st in Girl’s Foil, and Danielle Lon won 2nd in Girl’s Foil.
