On October 4th, the day after the bleachers were filled with a searing pink from the football game, Mendham HS held the long-awaited Fall Festival. The dance was held on the stadium field and was organized by the Class of ‘26. While 118 tickets were sold, about 100 students attended this event from 6 pm to 9 pm, and students were required to stay on the field until 8:30 pm. Tickets were sold for $22 when bought online, or for $20 if bought during lunch in the gymnasium. The profit from the dance goes to fund the junior and senior prom. Music was provided by DJ Magic Touch, who took song requests from the students via Google Form and fall decorations were provided by the Class of ‘27, creating a warm and welcoming environment for students. A cornhole and spikeball tournament took place, in which students could sign up to compete, adding an extra level to the party. People dressed up and took photos in the nice weather, and it was enjoyable to walk around the track with friends, meeting new people along the way. The festival allowed students to have some casual fun over the weekend, but there is always room for improvement. The event, as lovely as it was, did not reel in as many students as it probably aimed for; possibly changing the date of the event, simply changing the name to interest a larger audience, or adding in the option to have a variety of food trucks might bring in more attendees. All things considered, the event seemed to be an effective way to bring students together and make an extra buck.
