As a former staff member at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm gained fourteen years of experience not only in instructing academics in the classroom but also by collaborating with the student body during club meetings and athletics events. After years of teaching health and physical education as well as coaching wrestling and tennis, Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm realized it was time for a change and decided to give administration a try. Now, the Mendham High School community has kindly welcomed him as the new Supervisor of Athletics and Student Activities. In a recent interview with him, he said, “I’ve always taken pride in being very enthusiastic in the program, helping the individual students find their identity through athletics or activities.” With nearly twenty years of experience in education, he is excited to work behind the scenes to help highlight students’ passions.
In this position, Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm plays a vital role in all aspects of Mendham’s athletics and activities programming. “I believe that every student who puts time and effort in should be able to be showcased in some way,” he said. From booking field trips to presenting accomplishments to fundraising, his work will be a pivotal aspect in helping students succeed outside of the classroom. He wants to see the student body, staff, and community acknowledge major achievements, whether that is the football team winning a game, Relay for Life raising thousands of dollars, or the Mock Trial team winning a trial. Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm added that “when we allow the outside community, the alumni, the students who are currently in the elementary schools and the middle schools, and we showcase the things that we’re doing here. People say Mendham is a great place.”
Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm is married and has two daughters. Together, he and his family enjoy watching Disney movies and going on family vacations to Disney World. This fall, he is excited to immerse himself not only in athletics and activities but also in the greater school community.
Overall, Mr. Cantagallo-Rohm described Mendham as having a constant sense of pride that felt different from the districts he had formerly been a part of. We wish him an exciting new year as a member of the Mendham High School staff.
