When you glance back to the 80’s you think about all of the amazing movies that are still a hit today. Many of the classic movies you think back to and rewatch today are probably hits of John Hughes movies such as, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink. Some other comedy movies were National Lampoon’s Vacation, Uncle Buck, and Mr. Mom. John Hughes also directed Planes, Trains & Automobiles. He also directed some Christmas favorites towards the early 90’s which were  Home Alone and  Miracle On 34th Street.

Many of the film hits of the 80’s were produced by John Hughes, even if you didn’t know that John Hughes produced any of these timeless 80’s movies there was a theme of humor, coming of age and school, which are mostly seen in the movies The Breakfast Club. Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. 

According to Nytimes, “ In a pinch I can turn to “The Breakfast Club,” “Sixteen Candles” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” The haircuts, the music, the clothes, it’s all there.” Not only the movies were popular in the 80’s, but also the music that paired with these movie hits  such as The Breakfast Club; Don’t You Forget About Me, The movie Pretty In pink with the featured song Pretty In Pink by The Psychedelic Furs and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with the featured Song Twist and shout by the Beatles. John Hughes top ranked movie is The Breakfast Club and second is Plans, Trains & Automobiles, according to Goldderby. According to Variety, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is ranked the third best John Hughes movie. Until this day, John Hughes movies will always be an enjoyed 80’s favorite, whether it is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or National Lampoon’s Vacation.
