Los Angeles Lakers 2020 Season Preview

Los+Angeles+Lakers+2020+Season+Preview

This upcoming NBA season is going to be the second strangest season ever.  The first being last season.  The one thing about this season that isn’t strange is a Lebron James led team is right in the middle of talks about winning a championship.  This current Lakers team might be the best team Lebron has played on.  He has Anthony Davis, a top 3-7 player in the league depending on where you want to rank him.  AD is Lebron’s best teammate ever because he is the perfect teammate for Lebron.  Davis is a dominant big man inside and can stretch the floor as he is an above average shooter for his size.  He is also an elite shot blocker and defender.

This offseason The Lakers were more active during free agency and on the trade market then most people thought they would be.  The first move they made was trading for 6th man of the year runner up Dennis Schroder.  Schroder will be their backup point guard and will be an upgrade from Rondo who left the Lakers this offseason for the Hawks.  The next move the Lakers made this offseason was adding the 6th of the year Montrez Harrell.  This singing really came out of left field.  No one saw the Lakers picking up Harrell.  The reason they were able to sign him is because Harrell did not play great in the bubble and his value went down and the Lakers were able to sign him to a 2 year contract with a player option after this year.  The Lakers also signed Marc Gasol and Wes Mathews, two veteran players with playoff experience who will play solid basketball throughout the season.  Overall, I would say the Lakers had an A offseason.

Going into the season the Lakers should be the heavy favorite to win it all because they won it last year rather easily, and improved this offseason.  The biggest challenger to the Lakers is the Clippers who still have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Although they lost Montrez Harrell they signed Serge Ibaka who was a huge pickup for them. He is the shot blocking big man they needed last season.

With COVID-19 still being a huge question in this country no one really knows what’s going to happen during the 2020 NBA season, but one thing that is always almost certain is Lebron James and the Lakers will be fighting for a championship in June.
