What is going wrong with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Amidst the new NFL season, many teams were thought to be sure title contenders, although, throughout the progressed season, some teams have fallen out of that race.

One notable team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – a team that, in the beginning, had all the ingredients to go undefeated this year. They have an almost unstoppable offense in Tom Brady and Mike Evans, and a solid defense as well.

Tom Brady

Since the start of the season, they have been visibly inconsistent with their current record at 6-3. Many offensive and defensive mistakes have cost them big games.

Their offense appears to be ‘too good to be true’. They have an amazing quarterback in Tom Brady, and an amazing receiving core in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rob Gronkowski. Yet they still seem to underperform and play inconsistently.

For example; when the Buccaneers played against the Saints, a first down for the Buccaneers was not earned all first quarter. To make matters worse, Tom Brady threw three interceptions and the Buccaneers were steamrolled 38-3.

Tom Brady has thrown a total of 7 interceptions in 9 nine games, 5 of those interceptions have been solely thrown to the Saints.

The setting change has clearly been a struggle for Tom Brady, who was drafted to New England ago, and has never played anywhere else. As a true veteran of the game, one would assume that Brady would be able to excel anywhere, but this is not the case because when he is playing for the Buccaneers he looks more like Daniel Jones than the GOAT.

The Buccaneer’s offense isn’t the only thing that is keeping this team from winning consistitently. Their defense is also somewhat sloppy; as shown in multiple games where they were not able to cover the pass effectively. This team has an outstanding defensive line, featuring the likes of Jason Pierre Pual, and Ndamukong Suh, but they are just not playing like it.

Tampa has been lacking talent in safeties and cornerbacks, for example, in the Buccaneers-Saints game Nov, 8, the Bucs allowed 4 touchdown passes from the Saints in their 38-3 loss. Also, In the Buccaneer’s first loss against the Saints on Oct, 13, the defense was extremely lackluster allowing many wide-open passes to connect.

In order for the Buccaneers to develop consistency in winning games they are going to have to crack down on ball security since, on paper, they have one of the best offenses in the league.

Regardless of all their recent lackluster performances, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still one of the top contenders to win the SuperBowl this season if they can better utilize their skilled veterans and their young talent.
