For about a century the best and most famous rivalry in baseball and maybe in all of sports has been Yankees, Redsox.  That has come to an end because the Tampa Bay Rays future is right now.  Currently, the Rays are leading the Yankees 2-1 in the best of five ALDS.  Win or lose this series the Rays have had an outstanding season.  They went 40-20 pretty much dominating the AL East.  The Rays have the best young pitching staff in baseball.  The have the best and deepest bullpen in baseball and it has been on display in these playoffs.  They also have two young superstar pitchers at the top of their rotation in Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow.  The Rays have done the same thing the Yankees have done.  Identified young talent and either traded for them without giving up anything of value, or they have signed them on the cheap.  

Everyone knows about the Yankees and all of their homegrown talent.  They just signed superstar pitcher Garett Cole this past offseason.  They have a young core of superstars.

But, now let’s get to why the new rivalry is Yankees and the Rays.  The Boston Red Sox are on a complete decline.  They just traded their best player they have had in years, Mookie Betts for practically nothing.  Also, Chris Sale who has been their best pitcher over the last couple of years will be out of the 2021 season with Tommy John surgery.  Going into the 2022 season he will be 32 and coming from Tommy John.  With that being said Chris Sales best years are behind him.  Also, the Red Sox have a bunch of old aging veteran who are not good enough to compete for a division title let alone a championship.

The new best rivalry in baseball over the next 10 years will be the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays.  Both teams have a fantastic young core and have elite front office employees.
