Last weekend, on September 21st, Mendham’s Boys Soccer came out victorious in overtime! This wasn’t just an ordinary game; this was the play-in for the county tournament. Against an evenly matched Madison, the audience was ready for an intense game; and they thought right! Regulation ended with a tie score of 1-1 as a result of countless saves from both goalies. In fact, Journeycake, Mendham’s goalie, was able to save 9 shots! After battling back and forth through overtime, a game breaking instance occurred. A penalty was called against Madison when Mendham was within the 18’. Casey Lombardo came in clutch for Mendham as he scored the penalty kick at the end of overtime to get the team the victory! Mendham hopes to carry this momentum against Delbarton in round 2. Come support boys soccer on Sunday the 19th.
