Student Shout Outs: Matt Fabrizio

Gaby Acevedo and Joelle Beck

Matthew Fabrizio is a senior here at Mendham High School. Recently, Matt was accepted to the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island.

Matt has “been interested in art for as long as [he] can remember,” and has always been supported by his family in his interest to pursue art as a career. He mentioned that “[his] cousin, who is about 6years older than [him], went to Rhode Island School of Design and he loved it.” This intrigued Matt, who has a passion for graphic design and animation. After some research, Matt concluded that it was a good school and that he was interested in applying. When Matt learned that he had been accepted, he decided that was the school he wanted to attend in order to pursue his artistic interests.

His parents have always encouraged Matt and his siblings, who are triplets. He describes them as “very supportive of me, my brother, and my sister,” continuing on to say that “me and my brother are very creative and they always supported us.” Matt recalls that “they never were like ‘you can never do art as a career.’” With the love and support provided by his family, Matt’s childhood dream to become an artist is coming true.

Matt describes his favorite type of art as “animations and TV shows.” He is inspired by animated sitcoms, describing them as a “really hilarious type of art and the animation is really interesting too.” Even though some people do not view this as a type of art, Matt believes otherwise. He is attending the Rhode Island School of Design to achieve his childhood dream of creating types of art like this and more!
