On Tuesday December 15th, the reigning 2-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo declared that he signed a contract that guarantees him another five years playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. Antetokounmpo’s previous contract was set to expire in 2021, and he would have been a free agent with probable offers throughout the NBA. Being the MVP for the past two NBA seasons makes Antetokounmpo the literal most valuable player in the NBA. However, to much excitement, and relief, fans are thrilled that Greek born Giannis Antekounmpo will return to play for Milwaukee for at least the next five years on a $228 million contract according to Sports Illustrated.

Despite being drafted 15th overall in the 2013 NBA draft, Antetokounmpo’s determination and passion for the game drove him to be ranked best in the NBA for the past two seasons, even beating out LeBron James, Luca Doncic, and James Harden. In an Instagram post that announced the recent contract signing, Giannis Antetokounmpo states that “this is [his] home, this is [his] city…[He is] blessed to be able to be a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the 5 years”. Anteokounmpo shows his characteristic clear convictions about his goals for the season; Anteokounmpo has not yet won a championship with the Bucks, and he seems hungry to achieve just that. After winning two MVP titles, Giannis is far from complete with everything that he wants to accomplish in his career.

Giannis remains a force to be reckoned with on the Bucks this NBA season, and will continue to positively impact the NBA as his career progresses.
