Why Quarantine Could Be A Good Thing
May 8, 2020
With most of the world going on a pause for a few months in order to stop the spread of COVID-19, many people have found themselves in their homes with nothing to do. Most are quite upset with this and had many things that they were looking forward to this spring. is feeling is justified, especially for teenagers and young adults who are in the prime of their lives. Sitting around and pouting about it however will not accomplish anything and It is important to use this time for good.
Think about it, this is a once in a lifetime (Hopefully) opportunity. For teenagers once we finish our E-Learning we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want because all other commitments have been cancelled or postponed. This could be a very valuable thing for trying to perfect a hobby or interest. Countless hours to work on your craft no matter what it is should be something that is looked at in a positive way.
Now, if you do not have a certain thing that you love doing then now you can try and find something new to do. Whether it be a way to improve yourself like learning a second language or something just to pass the time like video games, this quarantine may help you discover something that you might have never given a chance if you did not have all this free time.
One of the best ways to spend your free time is with your family. COVID-19 has brought many families together who might have otherwise not have seen each other. College students have returned home to spend time with their families for maybe the last time before they have to go become adults, it is time they probably never would have gotten without this.
Another point that many people do not think about is all the good music that is going to come out of this. All of our favorite artists are not out partying or touring anywhere. They are stuck in their homes just like normal people are. They are probably busy writing some of their best stuff. We have only been locked up for about six weeks now and we have already gotten some absolute classics like Six Feet Apart by Luke Combs. When this all ends we will certainly be blasting our radios.
This pandemic has had an effect on everybody on a personal and a global scale, but that is true in a negative and a positive way. It is no secret that humans have not been treating the planet with the love it deserves over the past century. With the world on pause air pollution has dipped all over.
All of these things are very nice to think about, but the best thing to come from this is the appreciation we will have when we finally push through this. Think about what you would give just to go to school right now, get Chick Fil-A with friends, or just go somewhere without having to see someone in a mask or six feet apart sign. A greater appreciation for the beauty of our everyday lives is something that almost everyone will get out of this.
