Profiles in Gratitude: Abbey Thalacker and Mrs. Brown

Senior Abbey Thalacker would like to thank her psychology and human behavior teacher, Mrs. Brown, for going above and beyond to help her succeed and for inspiring her to pursue a career in psychology in college.

Thalacker appreciated that Mrs. Brown was helpful and acutely aware of her students’ needs. Thalacker remembers, “when I was falling behind she always offered her help and guidance.” Mrs. Brown provided Thalacker with the extra help and attention that she needed to catch up with the rest of the class. Mrs. Brown’s commitment to her students and their success goes above and beyond the standard. Thalacker explains, “when I thought about dropping the class because I was so far behind she stayed after school with me to help me decide what would be the best course of action.”

Not only is Mrs. Brown incredibly dedicated to her students’ success, she is also very approachable. Thalacker explains, “she always offers her help and is very personable,” which Thalacker greatly appreciated when she was playing catch-up.

As Thalacker leaves Mendham and plans for her future in college, she reflects on Mrs. Brown’s influence on her career, saying, “she helped me rediscover my love for psychology as I will continue to study it in college.” Clearly, Mrs. Brown’s personality and class have had a profound impact on students like Thalacker.

On behalf of Abbey Thalacker, the Patriot thanks Mrs. Brown for dedicating her free time and energy to her students’ success, and for the helpful and personable relationships that she forges with her students.

As the school year comes to a close, it is becoming time to say goodbye to the Class of 2019. The Patriot is asking seniors to thank their favorite teachers for making their high school career more enjoyable. If you’re a senior looking to thank one of your teachers, email [email protected].
