Women’s college basketball players aren’t allowed to take walks ahead of sweet 16

During a press conference Louisville head coach shared that “when the Sweet 16 teams switched hotels in the San Antonio area Thursday, they were told they are no longer allowed to take outdoor walks”( USA Today). That means that the athletes won’t be able to walk any time other than when they have to get their daily covid tests. So their walk to go get their daily covid test will be their only opportunity to get outdoor activity. Walz said that “The only time we get to see the sun is when we get to walk across to the convention center for a COVID test or to get on the bus to come here to practice,”(USA Today) None of the teams have made it to the sweet 16 have been able to go on a walk till Wednesday. Walz, the Louisville head coach also said “They’ve done a great job of keeping us physically safe, But I’m really concerned about the mental health side of it” (USA Today). It is hard for teams to get out of their hotel at all this March Madness season. The walks that the teams go on are one of the only times they can get fresh air and just allow them to relax. Hopefully, this rule will be changed soon and the women’s teams will be able to get back to their usual routines.
