After teams not being able to play in any NCAA tournaments, college teams will be able to compete this March. Men’s March Madness will mostly be taking place in a bubble in Indiana due to the Coronavirus. 67 of the games will be taking place in the bubble in Indiana. NPR said, “it’s still determining whether fans will be able to attend games” (NPR). They chose Indiana because of Indiana’s sports facilities and the state’s love for basketball. Dan Gavitt NCAA senior vice president of basketball said “The 2021 version of March Madness will be one to remember, if for no other reason than the uniqueness of the event” (NPR). With this news, we do not really know the specifics on how March Madness will happen this year but we know that it will be way different from previous years. March Madness will be a safe environment for the athletes and coaches because they will have Coronavirus testing centers. Hopefully, this March Madness will not get shut down like it did last year due to the Coronavirus. “In addition to following safety protocols, the NCAA said its “Mask Madness” program will donate thousands of masks in Indiana and promote health and safety practices” (NPR).
