Without a doubt, Halloween will always be the kingpin of holiday dress up. Nothing will ever top the costumes you see on this spooky night and the joy of someone complimenting your costume you definitely did not spend the last three months planning with your friends. However, this does not mean your clothes should change just that one night a year. Over the past couple of years, people from Antarctica to the North Pole have been jazzing up there Christmas attire. Here are some of the pros and cons of these Christmas staples that will help you shine brighter than the Christmas light display your weird middle-aged neighbor spent way too much money on.

The staple of the Christmas party has to be the ugly Christmas sweater. With endless possibilities, this is always a great option and is good for many different things. Whether it be to get laughs or state your political opinion because we don’t have enough of that in our lives already, this will be effective. This is not a perfect option though. If you are going to a holiday party It is most likely in December (If you are having them in November you are way to into Christmas and you should seek some serious help). This means It will be cold and the heat, wherever you are, will be turned all the way up. So if you spent all your money on that neat “They did surgery on a grape” sweater and can’t afford antiperspirant proceed with caution. UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER: 8/10

For those who want to keep it jolly but keep at least a few shreds of professionalism, slippers are an option. If these are the only holiday thing you got on, they will most certainly catch some eyes. A solid benefit to rocking slippers is you can still wear whatever boring everyday outfit you want from the ankles up and still participate in holiday cheer. Add a Santa or Rudolph to your toes and who knows, you might even grab a compliment or two. Of course be wary of puddles and other possible hazards. You are not Shrek, you do not want to be walking around in a swamp for the whole party. SLIPPERS: 6.5/10

The new kid on the block has made a big splash over the past few years. If you are trying to stand out this might just be your best option. The glaring reds, greens, and blues are hard to miss even in a crowd of people wearing what has been listed before. With companies like Tipsy Elves exploding over the past couple of years many of these suits will be seen this holiday season and with good reason. The Christmas suit drips of confidence to the highest degree. Not to mention it will most likely make you the best-dressed person there. Of course, much like the slippers, you have to be cautious about spills and other messes, unless you wanna drop a few bucks on dry cleaning. All in all, the Christmas suit will get you looking nice. On Christmas eve fall asleep with one of these suits on and a glass of milk in your hand. Boom, now you got Santa’s snack. CHRISTMAS SUIT 9.5/10

With Christmas just around the corner, you will probably see approximately 10,000 of these everywhere you go and for good reason. They are a cheap and easy way to get into the Christmas spirit. That is exactly what these are though. Cheap and easy. They have their place of course, but if these are the sole member of your Christmas attire then you are just doing this whole holiday thing wrong. It has its perks, of course, being quite cheap and can compliment any outfit, however at the end of the day it’s just not gonna get the job done if you are trying to kick your jolly up another gear. SANTA HAT: 4/10

When one thinks of jewelry around the holidays often times they think of the possibility of that special someone getting them that 24k necklace they have had their eye on forever. Those people are basic and don’t understand the true meaning of Christmas. The only necklaces you should be thinking of is flashing LED Christmas light necklaces. Another item which can be added to the everyday outfit to really put a little extra merry in Merry Christmas. One must be careful when purchasing such a thing. Buy one too cheap will often result in little to no flash and oftentimes something that straight up does not work. A much more expensive option will most likely just be lost in the 11-month span in which it is inappropriate to wear such a thing. Sometimes there is no right answer. CHRISTMAS NECKLACES: 6/10

It would be a sin to forget about all of out Hebrew homies out there. Hanukkah falls very early this year starting on the 2nd of December. This means busting out your favorite menorah sweater or dreidel rings and get your Hanukkah on. It is called a holiday party for a reason. December is for all the holidays. So throw on your Santa hat, your menorah sweater, and why not throw on some green, black, and red pants for all of our Kwanzaa fans out there. The holidays are about coming together whether that be around a tree or some candles. ALL DIVERSE HOLIDAY GEAR: 8/10
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS 10/10
